Sebenarnya bisa dibilang lirik lagu ini tidak bermakna literal, kata-kata “menangkap granat”, “melompat ke kereta api yang sedang berjalan”, dll merupakan kiasan semata. Pada ciuman pertama mereka, kekasihnya membuka mata, dan Bruno, sang penyanyi menanyakan “Mengapa mata itu terbuka?” Ternyata Bruno mengetahui bahwa kekasihnya tidak benar-benar mencintainya.
Ia (Bruno) rela mengorbankan apa saja, bahkan Ia rela mengorbankan nyawanya, tapi kekasihnya tidak mau berkorban juga untuk dirinya dan bahkan selingkuh di depan matanya. Pengorbanan yang dia lakukan benar-benar sia-sia.
